Creating Lasting Relationships: The power of music and collaboration // 2007-04-24 by BigKing

Not only that. These guys don't even live on the same continent as me. I encourage and challenge you to get excited about this new tool and new behavior, to embrace the possibilities it offers in connecting with other musicians, and increase your listening skills in the process, which makes you a better player.

I demoed the software at MusikMesse in Frankfurt, Germany for the company with my two new eJamming friends. In that presentation I played with Trev, who was in Newcastle upon Tyne, England and Martin in Koln (or Cologne), Germany. For those of you who don't know, Newcastle is about 1000 miles away from Frankfurt and about 130 miles from Cologne (You can watch us play by clicking here). I rehearsed with them from Orlando, FL a week before the event in real time and in sync, almost 5,000 miles away. Was the latency high? Yep. But because I’d practiced and toned up my musical muscles, I could do it!

Now ask yourself, could you have done this in the past – connected with musicians at this distance? And is challenging yourself to learn a new behavior and feel worth being able to connect with amazing players and possibly new friends that you would have otherwise not been able to connect with? I think so, but you tell me! We have to constantly learn to improve, we all know that, so let's just add practicing using eJamming to our list of to-do's, meet some new musicians, make new friends, and you will be amazed, I promise.
