  • Core Audio Drivers (no ASIO/ASIO4ALL needed)
  • USB Interface
  • Good performance, decent latency
  • 1/8” inputs and outputs

Conexant HD Audio

  • Windows XP
  • No ASIO compatibility, needs ASIO4ALL
  • Integrated into Laptop
  • Long latencies, only mic in, no line in
  • 1/8” Mic In, and 1/8” Line Out 1/8” Spdif Output
 
Digidesign mBox
  • Windows XP SP2 & Mac OS X
  • No ASIO4ALL needed, can download basic ASIO drivers from DigiDesign website
  • USB Interface
  • Okay sounding, longer latencies than other ASIO drivers and awkward ASIO implementation. Works in a pinch
  • XLR Mic Inputs, ¼” line inputs, 1/8” headphone outputs RCA Spdif

  • Windows XP SP2
  • Includes ASIO Drivers, no ASIO4ALL needed
  • PCI Interface
  • Great performance with eJamming, low latency, integrated routing options
  • ¼” Inputs and Outputs, Optical and Coaxial Digital inputs and outputs, MIDI inputs and outputs

  • Mac OS X
  • Core Audio Drivers (no ASIO/ASIO4ALL needed)
  • Integrated into laptop
  • Sounds fine, reasonable latencies. It’s built in and convenient.
